Datel demanda a Microsoft por monopolista
Sólo era cuestión de tiempo para que alguien se quejara por las recientes acciones de Microsoft con respecto a su división de videojuegos, alegando que fue por actividades monopólicas.
Datel Desing & Development, Ltd., considerado el líder en el mercado en la producción de dispositivos para consolas y videojuegos, levantó una demanda formal contra Microsoft por supuestas actividades monopólicas debido la reciente cancelación de cuentas en Xbox LIVE por la utilización de unidades externas de almacenamiento de ésta marca.
Marty Glick, abogado principal de Datel, argumenta que “Microsoft ha tomado medidas para volver inoperable la competencia de las memorias Datel con ningún propósito aparente mas que tener al mercado enteramente para ellos solos”, sustentándolo en el hecho de que las unidades de Datel tienen un costo de menos de la mitad que las de Microsoft.
Incluso cuando Datel reconoce que Microsoft tiene derecho a innovar, pero asegura que sus acciones están encaminadas a lastimar a la competencia y la capacidad de decisión de los consumidores, la cual esta protegida por la ley. Datel confía en que se haga justicia, se restaure la libre competencia y se permita a los usuarios disfrutar de un mejor precio y variedad en productos para videojuegos.
